Unit 2:How to position the fingers of the left hand

Read the following text carefully and press the continue button once you have read and understood everything.

How to position the fingers of the left hand

As we just saw, the fingers of the left hand should rest on each of the keys A, S, D, F and the space bar. Below you can again see an image where they are highlighted.

Here is a table showing the position of each finger of the left hand:

Pinky Rests on key A
Ring Rests on key S
Middle Rests on key D
Index Rests on key F
Thumb Rests on the space bar

Learning touch typing requires practice to get used to placing your hands correctly; at first this might feel a bit difficult. We will first practice pressing the keys with the left hand.

Now place all the fingers of your left hand on keys A, S, D, F and the space bar.

Do you think you could use only your left hand to type ASDF and the space bar?
